At Young Cedars, we believe in connecting the Heart, Head & Hand through imaginative Play, using Natural Materials for Toys, Singing and Dancing in a Ring, Baking, Wood-working, Story-telling & Puppetry and more. Monica Flamenco's mixed-aged Kindergarten follows the Waldorf approach providing space for Safe, Imaginative play, Movement and Artistic expression in the Early years. Children from 3.5 to 6 years of age are welcome.

Parent Education Workshops

Join Monica Flamenco in learning about the First Seven Years of Childhood Development. Why is Play so important? What is Rhythm in a young Child's Life. How can Parents and Caregivers help young Children to Co-regulate and more. 

 

Parent & Child Saturdays

Come and Relax with your Child in community with other Families for 2.5 hours with Monica. Connect with your Child and other Parents, Bake a little Bread and listen to a Story. Learn a little bit about Child development, eat a Snack and allow your Child to play & explore!

What age range do you cater to?

We accept children aged 3.5 - 6 years of age.

What is the Waldorf approach?

The Waldorf approach addresses the Whole Being of the Young Child. It recognizes that the First Seven Years are the foundation to human development. It is a holistic approach which helps to connect the Head, Heart and Hand. Young Cedars follows indications given by Rudolf Steiner.

Are parents involved in the activities?

Parents are welcome to participate in Workshops and Festivals ie. Lantern Festival in October, Advent Spiral the First Sunday in December and the May Festival. Parents are also invited to help celebrate their Child's Birthday in the Kindergarten. Birthdays are the most important of all the celebrations.

About us

Young Cedars Waldorf Inspired Kindergarten is dedicated to providing an approach to Early Childhood education following the principles and indications given by Rudolf Steiner. Monica Flamenco has almost 30 years of working with young Children first as a Montessori Teacher in her younger years and then graduated in British Columbia earning her Waldorf Kindergarten Diploma. She worked at Vancouver Waldorf School for 11 years. Young Cedars has just completed its 9th year nestled in the heart of the Gatineau Hills, Quebec.
